Just to say I'm still stomping around on my 2018 S1000XR, 2 years now

It's done about 10k more miles and has been perfect.

I even took it round brands indy in December on 10k old square touring tyres and still managed not awful 58s on it. Plus it was a hit using the TC with its sliding around clearways.

Only really issue is the slightly buzzy motor but some decent bar weights fixed most of that.

One peice of advice ride the bike you are planning to buy. 1 other XR I rode was atrocious for vibrations so do check. Seems to be a thing

Bloody inconsiderate of the wife to book a trip to bloody Butlins while you thrash bikes in Spain!

Still but fun at Donny watching everyone pretending not to race each other 🤣

Hey Moz

So, ive had an XR for the last 18 months. I need a do everything bike that I could do 12k miles a year, trackdays and sunday blasts, a tough ask.

The bike is exceptional. I can run within a couple of seconds of my GSXR 750 track bike at Brands and after Donny trackday last year I rode it 3 hours home. Popped the screen up, heated grips on, cruise control engaged and away you go.

Negatives... Only really that it eggs you on to go faster and that it kind of average looking. Thats about it.

Watching youtube vids from Cuban Rider.

I had a test ride on a GS before this and did own a tiger but there were to agricultural for me. The XR was a lot more sporty in character which I preferred.

One thing to check for us buzzing bars. I don't get it on mine at all but some seem to find it horrific

I'm less concerned about funny auto blooper issues etc...

I do a lot of miles and most of them are commuting. But I still go out at the weekend and will do the very occasionally trackday.

There are very few bikes that allow me to do all the above.

On the H2SX versus ZZR argument. There is nothing in speed wise, but the H2 looks a whole generation on from th ZZR also there are already folks remapping them to use more of the Supercharger for 240-250bhp. That's appealing

I'm 6ft 3 with a 36inch inside leg so superbike on stilts sounds grand!

Mainly interested in quirks, running costs day to day observations on real roads

So the ZZR1400 is at 56k miles, it's still riding well but with my mileage its time to get something new.

Another ZZR is still a possibility but I'd been keen to hear from anyone who has had the 2 bikes in the title.

Any thoughts?

Rc8r sounds like a great halfway house. Unusual enough to feel special without being so rare it's a liability.

Remember it's going down the road at some point. Do you really want to spend all your time looking for spare parts?
