June 19, 2019, 08:22:14 PM
So while perusing the bike adds I came across a mint 848 Evo for sale, so holding deposit paid and need to go and complete the deal this weekend :)

Always loved the looks of these and this one was too good to miss.  immaculate Standard bike,1 owner ( ex bike cop) FSH low millage etc.

Hopefully the attached image works.

Mechanical / Z750 Starting issue
June 07, 2019, 06:17:23 PM
So,  I appear to have a very strange fault on the zed which is causing my garage and me some head scratching so I am throwing it out to the forum for any suggestions.

So Long story short. had some work done on the bike ( rear shock, brake lines, bar end mirrors) upon picking it up it failed to start. with FI flashing up on dash.
checked it out no obvious fault. Changed battery, checked fuses etc no change.
Get the diagnostics done, code showing crank positioning sensor faulty.
Change that, garage report bike starts and runs ok, great, go to collect it. won't start. again check fuses, battery, side stand switch, tilt switch, all good yet won't start.
Bump start it fine and it runs.
Take it for a blast and while riding its giving a strange issue, as soon as the revs drop below 4.5K in any gear including neutral the FI symbol flashed with the red light.
As soon as you get above 4.5K the FI clears.
The bike was riding, idling, accelerating with no issue at all, no flat spots, no mis fire, no stutter. nothing.
Get home, hit the kill switch and immediately try to fire her back up and nothing , tries to fire but won't.

This is baffling,  and the garage are having it back in next week for more checks, however I though I would throw it out here for the combined knowledge and possible solutions. The garage think it might be an earthing to ground issue?

AS right now i am close to committing insurance fraud to get rid of the thing.  Also I want it working for the road track day I have just booked.

Bike Talk / Triumph Street Tripple 765 RS
June 02, 2019, 07:00:34 PM
 :love2:

Stopped off at Fowlers in Bristol today just to browse. and the Street Tripple 765  RD seriously caught my eye. Just love its look.

Considered moving towards a full on sports bike again. However this thing looks the nuts, absolutely stunning, and looks so well put together.

Bike Talk / Honda CBR650R

I know its not a full on sports bike compared to those of the mid 00's however I appear to have got a real soft spot for it especially its looks.  Love them.  The reviews it gets are all very positive and it could be a potential new bike purchase :) especially in the matt black scheme.

Bike Talk / Whats your guilty pleasure bike wise?
September 27, 2018, 09:52:34 AM
Just a random question.

What bike or bikes would you have that some others consider to old compared to modern machinery or ugly or just crap according to the reviews, yet you still find yourself drawn to and you'd happily have in your garage.

for me its the

ZX7R - love the looks of it even though its apparently a big heavy bike
Harley Iron 883- Just looks cool as in the candy paint, perfect for those relaxed summer evenings to the coast.

Bike Talk / B1H as a track bike
September 04, 2018, 06:37:23 PM
Umm as the title says, I am thinking of getting a road going B1H mainly for a track bike but also with the ability to take on the road if needs be.

I assume many on here have had a B1H as a track bike? any good? good points bad points etc. I know they are hard on the road but thoughts on them for use on the track is what I am after.

Mechanical / How easy is it to change brake lines?
August 21, 2018, 12:06:19 PM
I am getting SS braided lines for the Zed.

Just wondering how easy it is to change the lines and bleed the new ones yourself?

Suspension / ZX9R shock in my Z750
August 07, 2018, 03:57:14 PM
So, as it turns out at some point someone has taken the stock shock out of my Z750 and swapped it with from what I can tell is a ZX9R shock. After googling the images etc it appears to be of the 1998/99 era shock . Looks identical on eBay and a bit of googling.

Noticed as I was in Fowler's in Bristol and noticed the same model as mine had a very different shock in 😂.

Now the bike handles well after I've sorted the front. This explains why I've not noticed the so called budget  handling on the rear that the Zed is noted for.

Not sure how I feel about it or if it's a good/bad thing 🤨

Bike Talk / PCP contracts
July 23, 2018, 11:47:31 AM
Just a general pondering on PCP.  But it is bike related.

I currently have my BMW car on a PCP scheme through Park lane BMW (due to military discount) and being the only BMW dealership in the UK owned by BMW themselves. Now next July its up and I have already decided its going regardless, either by selling it and paying the balloon payment off or just handing it back.

However it has occurred to me that  both BMW and BMW Motard have their finance in the same place. So the crux is do you think BMW would allow me to use the equity in my car to put down on a bike PCP? effectively jumping from BMW to BMW Motard and continuing with a bike PCP instead?

I am just wondering if anyone has any experience of this maybe. I also know the obvious answer is speak to Park lane about it .
