Can is use 18mm OSB on a membrane over my concrete floor in my kitchen and then tile over that?

I'd normally use ply but I've got some OSB left over in the garage.

It wouldn't be my choice Dan...prone to deflection if any moisture gets to it...and even if laid and moisture/water contact is zero there are bonding issues...I think the glues used in manufacture react with Tile adhesives...for peace of mind WSB Ply is the board of choice...I'm sure you'll find a use for the OSB somewhere along the line.

Cheers love. Thankfully I didn't get around to it so I've got time to pick some ply up in the week.

Didn't consider the bonding issue!!

If your 'floating' the boards over concrete then you shouldn't tile as there be to much movement in the floor, better to screed then tile

It won't be a floating floor as I'll be fixing the boards directly down and using a flexible tile adhesive like Mapei.

I wouldn't screed down to 18mm anyway unless I was using a dry screed board, but I think ply is just as good.

Thanks for the advice though.
