Site Merchandise / mcnninja clothing photos
September 15, 2017, 04:48:05 PM
hello

i don't suppose anyone has any photos of themselves or others wearing the various mcnninja clothing produced over the years? i have original artwork and a couple of flat photo shots of the embroidery, but nothing with anyone wearing the stuff.
i even went through the old archive forum, but most photo links are now broken. i was hoping to put together a bit of a montage to use on our website

if anyone has anything would be greatful, it would be nice to get a mix of the various fests, but happy for anything really

thanks

Bike Talk / bloody bikes
June 22, 2017, 04:09:15 PM
had a fun night last night getting the KTM back from a bike show in Royston, the show was pretty good btw

on the way there noticed an odd smell, but couldn't work out where it was coming from, put it down to hot bike on a hot day
but when came to leave, bike wouldn't start, would get a flicker from the dash but that is all, battery was red hot... at least we worked out where the smell was coming from!
mates tried to bump start with no joy, got a jump from some guys who had some leads in their car, managed to get it running, but dash was going mental
got as far as the gates and it died again, managed to get another jump from a less than happy AA guy (we refused to join the AA you see)
this time manged to ride the next 58 miles without stopping and revving the bike when slow to keep it running, avoiding traffic lights etc. was a bit dodgy in the dark as lights were not working well, but got the bike within 2 miles of my front door when ran out of fuel!! contemplated pushing but most of it was uphill!
had to drag missus out of bed with a fuel can and jump leads, leads were shit, so resorted to stealing the battery from the Ducati.. finally got home just after 12 am

this was on top of Ducati failing its first mot due to a excessively loose chain, had to order up a new one
so both bikes are off the road until i can sort them at the weekend

on a totally different subject i am pretty sure i saw wallace at this bike show last night.. that or jimmy sommerville was making a guest appearance

Mechanical / head stock bearings
April 07, 2017, 12:52:42 PM
going to attempt to change the head stock bearings on the ktm this weekend and just wondered if there is anything i need to look out for or any advise? as not a job i have done before

noticed was a bit of movement when first got it, but has become steadily worse and now is starting to effect turning at low speeds, so want this done before off to france next month.

i have got a workshop manual and doesnt look too tricky, i am missing the "special tools" but confident i can fashion something to get old ones out and get new ones back in!

thanks

Mechanical / mityvac anyone rate them?
January 11, 2017, 12:18:28 PM
anyone had much joy using a mityvac?
was bleeding brakes on the 899 at weekend as part of its winter service, and thought i would finally get the mityvac out of its box
but really struggling to get anything that resembles a vacuum formed, i could hear air escaping all over when pumping
in the end abandoned and resorted to just bleeding normally
just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues or just me?

Bike Talk / petition re: bike thefts (london)
November 23, 2016, 12:17:47 PM
saw this posted up on another forum
i am always a bit sceptical about these petitions, but at same time whats the harm, only takes a few seconds to click and sign
i know this one is aimed specifically at london, but you never know might have a knock on effect
any who figured would post up here too

I have 3 old visors for helmets i no longer own

and 2x dark tint VZ80

they used to fit my old RDP and guintolli reps (both same model), but cant recall exact model of shark im afraid

dark ones have a few scratches and marks
the clear one is actually not too bad at all

Bike Talk / new bike day
October 03, 2016, 03:52:04 PM
no guessing games im afraid and a day late, but didnt get home til after dark yesterday so didnt have any decent photos to just now
finally scratched my ktm itch and got myself something much more suitable for putting in the miles while still being a bit lairy

came with loud cans, heated grips,  panniers and topbox, std cans and few other spares
low mileage and very clean

hope to get missus to come along on a few more trips again now i have something a bit more comfy
only negative so far is some pulsing from front brakes, i am hoping its the pads and not the discs

Bike Talk / Gloves with joined fingers
September 12, 2016, 08:54:13 AM
I upgraded my summer gloves the other day, with some RST 2579 trac-tech jobbies, didn't realise until i wore them in anger that the ring and little fingers on them are joined. I am sure this is a safety feature of some kind, but never had gloves with this before.
But find it quite annoying especially on the clutch hand as need 3 fingers to pull the clutch on the 899, not so much of a problem with braking hand as typically only use 2 fingers.
Wasn't sure of other peoples views on this particular feature on gloves?

Bike Talk / 3k budget for winter/2nd bike
December 08, 2015, 11:41:50 AM
any ideas

I need a new car as mine is on last legs, but tired of getting stuck in traffic every time i use it so thinking about just get a 2nd bike with heated grips, luggage and some decent waterproofs instead
been looking at triumph tigers, cb1300, zxr1100, bandit 1200
would love a ktm adventure but out of me budget
what else should i look at?

Announcements / Attachments enabled
May 01, 2015, 09:45:18 AM
As has been brought up a few times now and as space on server is not so much of a concern anymore thanks to mc101
I have enabled the attachments option on the site
It will only allow common web images types such as .gif, .jpg and .png and a few other misc file types such as .pdf, .txt,.zip (there could be others but cant remember)

To use simply click the "attachments and other options" option below the text entry box
then click the "choose file" button and browse to the file you wish to attach

there are a few limits on sizes and number of images per posts
but overall should make the process a little bit easier for all

Bike Talk / ducati scrambler
October 01, 2014, 03:52:01 PM
not quite the power of the H2, but ducati announced a new bike this week

had heard rumblings about it for quite a while, and have to admit, looks better than i thought it would

more info: http://ducatiforum.co.uk/ducati-scrambler/
http://scramblerducati.com/

its not for me, but its supposed to be fairly cheap .. less than 7k apparently
suspect it will sell well... if it works
