Bike Talk / New Bike at last
September 12, 2022, 09:25:19 PM
So after a lot of arguing with the insurance company the BMW was finally written off. The choice of replacement has me back on a Kwak and a mighty fine example too, I know many of you have seen it on Facebook but I also know Davy would be very disappointed if I didn't post on here too

Tyres / Pilot 6's
May 21, 2022, 11:29:02 AM
New tyres fitted this week on the RS went with the GT fitment to carry my lardy ass on the big girl knowing France trip is only a few weeks away, initial 60 mile run-in ride running the pressures the tyre place put in (so assume recommended although higher than the PR4's that were on before). Feedback is that as usual with the Michelins I feel comfortable, initial feel on front end was odd but soon enough I didn't notice, it was a dry day although some damp patches in the more wooded areas and the tyres felt great. Bike tells me 36 degree lean angle was achieved so not a bad initial run, the only bad thing about them is the price..... £360 fitted and that was with a bit of discount, apparently there have been two price increases already this year and supply can also be a challenge.. Oh well as long as they last the balance of this year then I'll be happy and if they are better than the 4's that were on the bike previously then I can't have any real complaints...

Just had to start a tyre thread lol

Bike Talk / The Latest P&J
April 11, 2021, 08:41:41 AM
Having now setup an image host so I can post photos as my phone camera images are apparently incompatible, I thought I'd update on here, those on Facebook have seen the bike but I have replace the Suzuki with a slightly different proposition.

The BMW is something Ive liked since it was just a 1200 but the shiftcam engine (and pillion capability) has finally swung it as the best all-rounder for me.. Ninja 1000sx was very close but insurance prices have gone stupid, KTM Superduke GT kept calling as I really wanted the engine and handling but pillion was not enough of an upgrade over the Suzuki..

Scottish Memorial Rideout / Early planning 2022
March 25, 2021, 07:50:51 AM
Given everything that has truly f£$%^&d up last year and well into this year I think it would be fantastic to get a trip sorted for 2022, last saturday is the 30th which means the Monday is a Bank Holiday as well so seems like its tailor made for a cracker.

I know that most are not posting on here as much and I know there are some key people making the effort and others (myself included) have not been on anywhere near as much social media groups being much more instantaneous and all that crap but I miss the craic.

Thoughts, abuse and general word association to follow below....

Bike Talk / Should I shouldn’t I
September 20, 2020, 05:36:06 PM
Well that time of year and I'm feeling the itch and starting to consider changing the bike, last year saw me decide that the GSXS was still the right bike for me so after not enough miles again this year I'm back to trying stuff out:

The Candidates

In the Green Corner we have the 2020 Z1000SX, performance tourer is probably the spec love the looks, pillion seat looks like it will be decent and I think I will definitely like it a lot

In the Blue corner is the R1250 RS (or do I just go GS) Exclusive spec probably , looks lovely, engine is very very nice, should be decent with a pillion with the electronic suspension and the brakes are stonking..

In the Orange corner the Superduke GT makes a case for hooligan engine and I'm told it is actually a decent pillion bike, great spec but huge huge price

In the Red corner the Multistrada rears its head but do I go 950 because tbh it is probably enough really or do I go 1260, obviously S spec to get the skyhook suspension but I do look at it sometimes and thing it has the looks only a mother could love and sometimes it looks quite tasty, appeal is the handling allied to great pillion performance.

I mention pillion several times because I'm trying to get Julie on the back more often so I can get out and do more miles and more trips with her rather than 'desert' her so that I can have fun but I do want to enjoy myself when I get there. The GSXS does the fun bit rather well but the pillion seat is nearly as bad a a normal sports bike..

Comments freely received but as usual you may all be wrong.. or right dependant on my mood

Bike Talk / Apres Lockdown party??
March 30, 2020, 10:45:30 AM
Feels like a late in the year event needed, lets get the ideas rolling in and see what you intelligent/creative folks can come up with..

Fire Jumping, Alcohol fuelled stupidity, Dodgy food, Average Company, Did I mention Alcohol?

All ideas based around anything vaguely interesting and sociable welcomed....

Bike Talk / It's Happened...
July 25, 2018, 07:23:48 PM
Tomorrow will be my last trip on the Z as the deal is done, bloody salesman was just too darn good

GSXS1000F - still has some bits to be fitted but overall I'm happy, engine is a cracker as it's based on K5 and handling is a bit sharper than the Z although it's not as practical..

Bike Talk / Sat Nav
April 18, 2016, 07:26:15 PM
OK peeps, as I'm spending time considering this I thought I'd throw it out to a lovely bunch of people for help...  Currently using an iPhone 4 on the bike running sat nav and media but frustrating thing is that even touch enabled gloves aren't working through the waterproof case and it's bugging me..keep looking at sat nav units and it seems both Garmin and Tom Tom have a few issues in current models so my alternative is to upgrade to an iPhone 6s to act as both phone and sat nav but I'll still have the glove issue to cope with unless someone has experience with a waterproof case that works with gloves..

Any thoughts and experience appreciated and I reserve the right to be abusive if I don't like the replies 😉😉

Bike Talk / A Kawasaki owner again
April 03, 2016, 05:19:06 AM
It's been a couple of years since my B1 went and I've been without a Kawasaki but as of yesterday I have had the joy of adding a Kawasaki back into my garage.. Some of you know I've been really keen on the Z1000SX for a while (years really) and I have been test riding something for more comfort for long distances since last year at least. Well a little devil  just gave me a bit of a push and in very short order I managed to find a 14MY bike with Kawasaki warranty remaining that was just about within my budget

Goes well, stops well, has traction control and ABS, is comfortable and looks great in Black. Different to ride in so many ways from the FightR and a great stablemate, so now I've just got to find enough opportunities to put miles on both bikes....

Starting the ball rolling so I can plan accordingly, we normally say last Saturday of the month, next year that's the 30th meaning it becomes a bank holiday weekend for us southerners potentially giving us an extra play day   :)

Am I right in my thinking or will it be the 23/24th ??
