Street Triple?....capable of all you anticipate doing on a bike.

So so tempted, always wanted one and I love the 675 engine. I am just not sure for this year's activities that a non-fairing bike is the answer?

Bike Talk / What bike?
February 07, 2019, 01:18:22 PM
Looking at swapping out the 2003 GSXR 600 that's been my workhorse and fun-bike for the last 3 years.

I was looking at getting another 600, want it to at least be 07/08 or newer and ideally less than 20,000 miles on the clock. Budget somewhere between £3,500 and £5,000 depending on how long i can bare to wait / how disciplined I can be.

I was expecting to go for a super sports but open to suggestions. Will use the bike for some commuting, some track days and a trip to the IOM and to southern Europe this year.

I have thought about going for a Fireblade as that age of bike you seem to get a lot for your money.... but I'm 9st and have never felt the need for more power than a 600 gives me. I'm not concerned about having a litre bike if that's the best deal, just never felt like I needed one before!

Thoughts?

Well, cash reserves pretty much depleted to zero following an eye watering deposit sent to a Spanish lawyer......... hopefully things don't go tits up our end or we lose it........ mind you, if the vendor pulls the plug, they owe us 3x the amount.

I may end up selling a bike to fund a track bike...... no hardship but it'll certainly have to wait until the new year

Have you checked with Carbon to see if the bike will be worth more or less in the summer or winter?

Seriously........ had I transferred the 30% + fees + deposit that I've had to raise in the UK when we first had our offer accepted, it would have saved me EXACTLY the cost of that bike, thanks to Theresa's little stunt yesterday.

Can't moan though, there appears to be little sympathy out there....... people are using food banks...... apparently.

I can't bare anymore thought about it..... I'm going to start a petition to just flip a coin and we'll do what that says!

Dean Ellison was doing tuition at Cartegena. I bumped in to him at the airport on the way home and had a bit of a chin wag. Liked what he had to say so I've booked him for a full day one on one when I go out again in March.

Never too late to learn, I reckon.

Mind you....... I don't think he races now, so I'm not sure he'll feel the benefit

I used to think that...... now I'm very much in to garage art

Nothing wrong with having a nice bike that you happen to ride on track days.
I just thought you were talking about a track bitch you could ride hard and put away wet

OOOOSHHHH talk dirty to me!

Sorry didn't know the budget when I put my suggestions forward.

The F3 675 looks amazing.

The Daytona is the only bike I can think of that would pull me away from a Japanese IL4 bike for trackdays. My criteria would be that I wanted solid everything and cheap to service and repair.... but that's really doesn't fit your criteria!

FYI - my size really works for me when you twin it with a lack of talent and a large helping of fear.... keeps you well away from the throttle in these moments!  :moto:

I was on my push bike yesterday and today. Didn't get soggy but did get a blow-out.

+1.... smashed glass outside the pub for me..... good excuse to put new rubber on the bike for next summer. Winter bike arriving soon I hope! :cheesy:

I have it on good authority that the bike is an absolute weapon.... but generally Aprilia are a pain in the ass to own. My mate is a regular rider and says the pain is worth it.... but I couldn't do it to myself!

worth doing a bit of research on the mileage. The last Aprilia I had any dealings with used to reset the odometer every time the battery went flat!

I've been looking at starting 50cc racing next year and slowly getting everything together to help keep costs down.

As of yet I still haven't managed to get my hands on a bike but noticed a large number of cheap bikes in Japan

Has anyone in here imported a bike before? As it's looking to be cheaper for me to get one from Japan than the UK with some of the silly prices being asked.

This sounds brilliant; have you got a link please?

I've always wanted a proper super-moto bike for the road. The guilty part is that every time I see a hooded loonatic wheelie one through Manchester town centre with no number plates it only makes me want one more!

You are welcome to have a go on mine.

Terry..... if I can reach the ground on the thing I would bloody love to!

You're based up in the NW aren't you?
