Bike Talk / Can’t decide
July 08, 2020, 06:58:45 am
Some of you would have seen on FB.

I am in a real dilemma. 2020 Street Triple 765RS or 890R Duke.

I just can't decide.

KTM - superior chassis with sublime reviews. Cheaper finance @ 4.9%. Local dealer has one being held for me as they are very limited in numbers. His deal includes free first service, Evotech tail tidy and cruise control retro-fitted as part of the package. Bike is RRP. Bad: lots of reports of the bike being unreliable - one engine failure and lots of oil leaks just like the 790 had.

Triumph - chassis not as good but I much prefer the triple engine. £450 discount offered off list but preferred colour (silver grey) not available from the factory immediately. Awaiting a delivery time to be confirmed. Better built could be argued. Much better dash and neater heated grips solution. Finance more expensive @ 7.9% and no negotiations yet about first service cost etc etc.

Both local dealers. I could look further afield but can't be arsed with the rigmarole to be honest. I feel more loyal to the KTM dealer but have dealt with both extensively in the past.

No part ex issues - I don't have a bike at the moment.

The indecision is actually making any excitement about getting a new bike shrink to fuck all.

Any thoughts here?

Anyone dealt with them?

Any good?

They have a nice bike advertised (May even be sold) but just wondered if they are reliable (dealer, not bike).
Misc For Sale / BMW i3 REx

I'm so impressed with my foray into EV ownership I'm going to upgrade to a newer i3S full EV.

I suspect current atmosphere won't see me selling privately but I'll give it a go.

In short if you want an awesome fun car that will cost between 0.1p and 2p per mile with a realistic EV only range of 90 - 140 miles together with acceleration performance of a warm hatch look no further.

Range Extender generator adds another 100-140 miles to that range (at about 40mpgs so not at all bad for a petrol) indefinitely.

I'm so impressed with it. Message me for more.

Considering trading the Superduke whilst the trade-in price is still reasonable with the new model out.

Great bike - just a bit lardy. Bit like me.

Considering a new 890R with QS+ and track pack fitted. Hopefully the changes to it address all the issues I had with the 790.
Bike Talk / New H2 Z model

I've read Kawasaki have announced a naked supercharged H2 Z model today - launched on 23 Oct.

So I'm considering a change for 2020 (no shock). I've enjoyed the Daytona 675 so much since I got it that I'm keen on a newer model.

The KTM is awesome but a bit raw. I wouldn't miss it if it went.

So options are:

Sell both and acquire an older 675R model and an older 765 Street RS.

Sell both and buy a 2017 S1000R Sport (liked my older one) and a newer Daytona 675R model.

Wait for the new 765 Street RS and see if  I can get an older 675R with the "change"

My Arai is now 11 yrs old.

I'm thinking Shoei as well as Arai as they have changed their shell shape in recent years and they now appear to fit me of the couple of new ones I've tried on.

Who wears a Shoei? Which model? Any recommendations? Budget of about £400.

Prototype images released to coincide with them having a crack at the Pikes Peak KTM record.

It looks fucking gorgeous.

Bike Talk / B1H or P8F ZX6R?
June 07, 2019, 07:11:58 pm
Couple of bikes for sale close to me at the moment.

One is an 09 p8f 600 with a paint gouge in the tank but he's offered it to me at a very nice price.

The other is a totally standard black B1H - similar money.

Both have about 20k mileage.

Obviously my heart says B1 as they are the finest ZX6R ever made but the p8f is very pretty and I hear a total track weapon.

Fancy something completely different to my KTM for Oulton Park fun and moving forward.

Anyone ridden both? Will the lack of tonque in the 09 piss me off?

I'm being "encouraged" to go on 24 March.

Anyone else wanna meet up? Al, Iain, Peej, Dan???

I'd like to look for a textile suit. Anyone who's been before before, is there any decent trade stands??

Anyone here use them? Ever had to claim?

The lads on the KTM forum really rate them - just wondered if anyone here had any dealings with em?

Anyone know any owners of it??

What do they think? It's a discontinued lid but so like the look of it and I need a new one. It'll have to be an online purchase so just wondered if I could get any owner feedback?

Anyone got a set? Any good?

Do they zip together around the full(ish) waist or just a short section at the back?

Looking at a cheap set on eBay but would rather have a full zip, the seller is away so can't check and "can't remember" ....

Can anyone help?

Bike Talk / Silly season
December 07, 2018, 05:33:53 pm
Not racing but MOz's wanting a new bike urges getting really silly.

Current thoughts are V4 shaped (as in Panigale). Man maths easily makes the PCP numbers look stupidly cheap......

Stupid idea right? The 790 hasn't even done 1000 miles yet
